We are back with another instalment of our Staff Spotlight series, where we introduce you to various members of the RetireInvest team to help you get to know them a bit better.
This time, we interviewed Katie Ann Dinsdale, Financial Services Administrator.
Straight out of university
This is Katie’s first role in financial services, following the recent completion of her degree in Economics. Throughout her studies, she built a solid foundation in financial theory and economic principles, sparking a keen interest in applying this knowledge in a practical, real-world context. Katie is excited to begin her career in the industry, eager to continue learning and developing while contributing to the team’s success.
So far, so good
Katie says the best part of the job is the team. Everyone is really approachable and easy to get along with. She has learnt a lot already just by working alongside them. For her it has been a great environment to have started her career in because there’s always something new to absorb and her colleagues are always happy to help.
Greatest career achievement so far?
One thing that stands out, and she is really proud of, is having an article published in an academic economic journal. It took a lot of research and effort, so it was really rewarding for her to see it in print. She feels the skills she picked up during that process are helping her in her professional work.
Best outcome to date
Katie cites a case that took months to resolve due to a provider error. It required a lot of follow-ups and regular contact with the client to keep them updated and reassured. After a long process, the client finally got the outcome they had hoped for. It was really satisfying to see everything work out for them in the end.
Office working does have its challenges
One of the biggest day-to-day challenges Katie encounters is surprisingly practical—the ongoing aircon battle in the office! Striking the perfect temperature balance for everyone feels like an impossible task, but the team does its best to compromise!
Sales pitch to a potential client….
RetireInvest makes financial advice simple which is important because it can feel overwhelming. Whether looking at finances for the first time or reviewing retirement options, clients are guided in a way that fits their needs and lifestyle. Katie highlights how the company focuses on understanding each client’s goals, whether short- or long-term, and then helps map out a straightforward plan of action. Clients feel supported every step of the way.
The most important skill is..
Communication – it helps build trust and transparency, which are essential when managing people’s finances and expectations. Effective communication also fosters strong collaboration across the team, reducing hold-ups and enhancing the quality of service.
Dream job as a child
For Katie it really depended on the week! Some weeks she wanted to be an astronaut because of an obsession with space. Other weeks it was being a fashion designer, creating new clothes for her Barbie dolls.

Helpful because she is always happy to lend a hand whenever someone needs it!
