RetireInvest Staff Spotlight – Lee Miers

Welcome to another instalment of our Staff Spotlight series, where we introduce you to various members of the RetireInvest team to help you get to know them a bit better.

This time, we interviewed Lee Miers, Senior Paraplanner. Lee’s career in financial services started before he had even finished university….

Getting a foot in the door

Lee’s career started in 2011 while studying during his 2nd year of university through a mentoring scheme run by Lincoln University. Lee was lucky to be paired with a financial adviser, and he began working at the financial adviser’s office in between lectures. Once completing his degree, he was offered a full-time role as a trainee paraplanner, and his career took off from that point.

Key achievements so far

There are two things that Lee is proud of in his career so far, the first is his dedication and hard work in creating a full-time role for himself during university. The second is his contribution to the development and training of many Paraplanners within the industry and witnessing their success.

Favourite client success story

Helping a recently widowed client. Lee provided support in constructing a financial plan to ensure that the client had ongoing financial security. He found it very fulfilling helping the client during a very difficult period.

And the challenges that come with the job

Having to keep up to date with changes in regulation, taxation and allowances in a highly regulated environment keeps Lee and the team on their toes.

Being a good paraplanner involves…

Having good technical capabilities, and good communication and organisational skills.

RetireInvest is in his words

A highly professional financial services company that provides excellent advice from highly skilled and knowledgeable advisers, thoroughly supported by a dedicated team of administrators and paraplanners.

In another life

He would come back as a Formula 1 driver or a footballer, putting those good technical and communication skills to use in a different arena!

His superpower would be…

Teleportation. To be able to visit different countries and places instantly with no wasted travel time.
